Cambodia Receives More Than 1 Million Doses of Covid-19 Vaccines from Italy

PHNOM PENH: On Monday morning, 1,056,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines sent by Italy officially arrived in Cambodia. The handover ceremony took place at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, under the presidency of Prime Minister Hun Sen and the Italian Ambassador to Cambodia.

The Italian Ambassador, Lorenzo Galanti, described Cambodia's Covid-19 vaccination campaign and fight against Covid-19 as a success, and declared that Italy will continue to support Cambodia and its people.

In turn, Prime Minister Hun Sen thanked the government and people of Italy for providing Cambodia with this support.

During his speech, the Prime Minister added that the current vaccine stock in Cambodia has reached more than 10 million doses, so he urged all Cambodians to go and get vaccinated with at least three doses of the vaccine to ensure better protection from the virus.

Since Covid-19 began to spread in Cambodia, the Royal Government has prioritized vaccination, considering it the first and best strategy to fight against Covid-19. Currently, more than 93% of Cambodia's 16 million population has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. However, the Royal Government continues to urge citizens to receive a third and fourth dose of the vaccine, to strengthen the collective immune system of the local community.

The vaccines administered in Cambodia are Sinopharm, Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Monderna and Pfizer.
